Wild seafood and snails are terrific sources of EPA, a powerful omega-3 fat. Omega-3 fats have been shown to prevent clotting in the arteries. In addition, they help to stabilize the heart’s electrical conduction system and prevent sudden death from cardiac arrhythmias. Wild greens are rich in LNA, another form of omega-3 fat. They are also full of antioxidants and, therefore, help lower inflammatory proteins associated with heart disease. One study found that wild greens had a higher antioxidant effect than tea or wine. Adding acidic foods such as lemon or vinegar to horta helps to increase the bio availability of these nutrients and greatly enhances the taste.
