Impetigo infection starts with a pimple with a yellowish or white blister on top, but this soon gets rubbed off and scabs or crusts take their place. This disease usually attacks the face but the spots develop in any part of the body that the hands can carry the infection to. In infants it starts wit a very delicate small blister that contains puts and is surrounded by reddened skin. The blister breaks easily and leaves a small raw spot. It does not develop a scab as in the older children. These blisters often appear on moist places on the infant’s body such as under the armpits or near the groin. This skin infection should be promptly treated by a doctor because it responds best to treatment started in early stages.
